Good Times at the Essex

Krug

Our photo album grows ever larger, this time thanks to our own SheepLord, AKA Brennan, AKA Painter of Gobbos. Over the weekend of Northeast Wars IX, Brennan managed to tear himself away from the miniatures room long enough to snap some great pictures. Like, for example, this shot of a player really getting into his dancer character during the Serenity roleplaying adventure Reaver’s Dance. Said dance involved a pole, apparently.

Side note: is it true that if you stand up during a roleplaying game, it counts as LARPing?

You can see more of Brennan’s photography in the Northeast Wars IX photo album, or view the whole stream over at our Flickr page.

Ah, Memories

Krug

The past weekend of gaming may still be fresh in everyone’s minds, but that’s no reason not to take a flip through the photo album. Yes, pictures snapped by staff and conventioneers are already rolling in. Take a gander at what’s in the Northeast Wars Flickr stream, as well as what Andrew Liptak, our stormtrooper and unofficial part time photographer, took with his own camera. As memory cards are off-loaded, there will be more to come in the future, so keep checking back.

If you have pictures from Northeast Wars IX, or any previous year, feel free to send a link or copies our way at northeastwars@gmail.com. We’ll be very happy to host them in our Flickr account — with due credit, natch — or link to your website or gallery.

Imperial Troops Assigned to Northeast Wars Installation

Krug

Troops from the New England garrison of the steadfast 501st Legion, maintainers of the Empire’s peace on Earth, will deploy the weekend of April 3rd through the 5th to oversee the execution of Northeast Wars, a recreational activity sanctioned by local representatives of the Empire.

When not pursuing their duties of tracking down traitorous rebels and contraband droids, members of the 501st will be available for photo opportunities with loyal citizenry.

Last year, TK-3220 performed admirably in keeping the peace at Northeast Wars VIII. We look forward to welcoming him and his comrades in arms back this April. His mission report can be read here, with accompanying photographic records.

Coming in Five by Five

Krug

We’re very pleased to welcome back Doug Duprey, host of Design & Conquer on Online Gaming Radio, to Northeast Wars. Last year, Doug provided live coverage of the convention from the ground as it happened. You can check out the pictures Doug took of the Resurrection here.

This year, Doug will provide the same level of live coverage, talking to guests and conventioneers as they catch a break between gaming slots. When you see him around the hotel this April, say hi!

Our Photo Album is Live

Krug

Thanks to photography by staff members and Thomas and Jeannie Compter, we now have an album of photos from Northeast Wars VIII: The Resurrection! You can check it out here.

And if you have any photos from last year, or earlier, you might want to check out the contest we’re currently running. Your photos could be worth a free weekend badge to Northeast Wars IX.

Contest: Northeast Wars Wants Your Photos

Krug

A picture is worth a thousand words. But now it may also be worth a three day pass to Northeast Wars IX!

Northeast Wars wants to build an online photo album commemorating conventions and adventures gone by. But we need your help to do so. If you have pictures from prior conventions, we’d love to include them in the album, particularly if they’re from the misty days of the 1990s.

If they’re digitized, email them to northeastwars@gmail.com with the subject line Northeast Wars Photo Album — please, no attachments larger than 10 MB. If they’re physical prints, mail them to:

Northeast Wars Photo Album
c/o Quarterstaff Games
152 Church St.
Burlington, VT 05401
And be sure to include your name, so we know to credit!

For every picture from a prior Northeast Wars you send in, you will receive one entry in a drawing to raffle off a three day pass to the convention in April. Drawings will occur every two weeks from January 1st until the week of March 30th. Winners are removed from subsequent drawings, so the more photos you send in, the better your chances!

Note: Northeast Wars cannot take responsibility for photos lost or damaged in the mail, so don’t send us your only copies. We also cannot return them via mail, but pick-up at the convention in April can be arranged. By sending in pictures, you implicitly give permission to Northeast Wars to post them online and use them in promotional efforts.
